Once you have installed the liner, you should now install the skimmer correctly – please refer to the post HOW TO INSTALL A POND SKIMMER. Now is the time to work out the best place to position your pond filter and pond pump. Make sure you can access the filter for maintenance. Pond Skimmers – How To Install The Right Way

Installing your pond skimmer can be quite tricky. The position of the skimmer must be so that the water level is accurate and the water flows throught the skimmer at the correct rate. If the skimmer is too shallow, the lid of the skimmer can block the water flowing. If the skimmer is too deep, too much water will flow through it and no debris will be caught.

Once you have worked out EXACTLY where to position your pond, the next step is to decide whether you want a pre-formed pond a concrete pond, or a pond liner. This depends on your budget and the size of your pond. Basically a concrete pond if installed correctly will last longer and be less susceptible to rodents.
